This week we are inspired by the beautiful Japanese art of Kokedama.
Kokedama is a form of Japanese art that is centuries old and tied into the practice of bonsai and now it has experienced a resurgence as a modern art form useful for uniquely presented plants and flowers
Kokedama style is inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-sabi, which can be explained as an appreciation of the imperfections of nature and the transience of natural beauty. Characteristics of Wabi-sabi include simplicity, warmth, earthy, irregular, rough, natural, acceptance and observation.
Kokedama is a combination of two bonsai styles: kusamono and nearai.
